I am going to upgrade from Avid Xpress DV to AX Pro.

Can someone please tell me what are the system requirements to run Xpress Pro
    as efficiently as possible?

If anyone knows a link that will give me this information,
    I would really appreciate it.

    thanks

thanks, i saw that, but it mostly tells me what systems to buy that are compatible.

Currently, I have Xpress DV in a PC. Intel Pentium 4, 2.0Ghz,/256K/400MHz,
Windows Professional SP, 1Gig ram, Matrix Millenium G550 AGP Dual 32MB Card.
I have three drives, one is boot drive, other two are for storage.

Can anyone tell me if these specs that i now have will work with Xpress Pro.?
or do I need to get something more powerful? I’d rather not spend the money,
but if I have to, i guess I will.
    thanks

You can buy whatever you want. But in order for XPress Pro to work properly, you need to buy whats on the list. Yes, its expensive. But if you are making money off this system, it’ll pay for itself.

you can use a non-qualified system to run Avid, but you
may run into issues. or you might not. Thats the trick, avid
will only suport qualified systems. so you would be on your
own if you have any problems.

I’ve been running media composer on my system at home with no problems. Not only is it not qualified, but doesn’t even meet the minimum system requirements.

quickly looking at your system specs, you may need a new
video card. Avid wants nvidia cards, even an older 128mb card will do.

There’s really no way to tell if you will have any issues
until you load the software and try it out. I’m not sure
if express pro has a downloadable trial ver. or not.

You will, at least, want to consider adding another GB of RAM for a total of two on the system.

I presume you have a typo and meant you have a Matrox video card. My understanding is that Avid really does not like Matrox cards at all. They particularly like and want the NVidia Quadro cards. I think it has to do with the way the card handles instructions, particularly in hardware as opposed to a software layer.

Or some techno-babble similar to that which I admit I don’t fully comprehend. I’m gonna go align the plasma injectors in the warp core pre-sequencers now. . .
