I’m working on a new Avid Media Composer Adrenaline system (without the adrenaline break-out or a mojo) on an HDV project. Every time I step into trim mode (either by going to the next edit or by just transitioning into trim mode) the image in the left trim window (what would be the source media window- it shows the outgoing media of the cut I’m trimming) is blown up maybe twice or three times the size. It only happens in trim mode, and only in the left window. This happens while I am editing in a project formatted for 1080i HDV or for a project at 30i NTSC (though the image is magnified less in this DV setting). I’ve turned off the “big” trim option in the trim settings, but I can’t figure out why this would be happening. It makes it very hard to know exactly what the outgoing shot actually looks like. Please let me know any thoughts.

    Many thanks,

    Nate Smith

    Avid Media Composer 2.6.6
    Mac G5 quad core
software and cpu only (no breakouts)

Have you made the windows smaller again and saved your workspace (Save Current)? Avid should remember the view the way you like it next time you open trim.

Try making new user settings, too. Yours might be corrupt–it happens from time to time. Always keep a backup so you can reload them quickly.

    Michael.
