  “You have only 50 minutes left on this drive…” ?

  Hi –

  Just joined CC. Glad to be on board, after being an Avid editor for some number of years now.

  I am running two systems, one is a Meridian-based system on a Mac. Recently, it started to do
  this “weird thing.” When digitizing, it tells me, “You have only 50 minutes left on this drive,
  would you like to change drives now?”

  I have never encountered this sort of error before. Of course, with 50 minutes left on a drive,
  I would NOT want to change.

  I ran various Mac utilities on the main HD and ran Avid utilities; none returned any obvious
  errors or problems.

  Any thoughts?

  Have you tried going into the media creation setting or digitize settings? See if something funky is switched on?

  Welcome! I hope the cow is as helpful to you as it is to me!

  There is a setting that will notify you how much time is left on your drives. The default is 2 minutes. I suspect someone got in there and started mucking around with it. I believe it’s in the digitize settings.

  I am pretty sure I already checked all the digitize settings. However, I’ll look again
  and see if I missed anything.

  Also, maybe I should try doing this with another user’s settings, to see if mine
  got splattered…

  I’ll let you know if any of this helps.
