Feilo CR1-14 ???
Anybody knows the Feilo CR1-14 Microphone (short shotgun mic, Chinese company).
Is it good?Also the Bardl Shotgun Mic (also Chinese) – anybody experiences with those as well.
Happy to get any feedback about those two.Thanx.

I read, that the Peluso Mic CEMC-6 is made from parts of the Feilo. If that is true, is the original Chinese Feilo as good as the Peluso, which I read is a terrific microphone.

Hello Sacha and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.
Last time I hear one of those cemc-6 it was definitely not terrific. OK for the price, but not something I’d want on my boom. Feilo makes low budget mics for lots of folks. You want low budget sound, that’s how you get it.

Hi Ty,
Thanx for The warm welcome. I read a lot of good things about the cemc-6 version of the Felio.
But good to hear in time, that it’s not.
What can you recommend? A shotgun mic, that can go on the camera but also good for boom. With a warm sound and affordable for a small indie film maker like me?

OK for the price, but this country has been flooded by low cost, chinese-made mics. It’s not like the Chinese have been the cause. Most of these mics are “designed” here in the states and ordered from several chinese factories; Feilo among them. If you’ve never heard a really good mic, or can’t tell the difference, that’s what you get.
Some pros use an Oktava MC012 or MK012 as a throwaway mic to be used in situations that might put their best mics in jeopardy.
Small indie film makers do need to take a moment and consider their sound. Sure, it’s about the money. But lets look at the money. Do you buy a cheap mic, only to have to buy a better one later? That’s more money! Spend the money now and every shot you make will sound better from this moment on.
Unlike cameras, mics don’t go out of fashion anywhere near as quickly. Good mics last for multiple decades. The Sennheiser 416 has been around for 30 years or so, maybe 40, I forget. It’s still a solid piece of gear. Not as good as their ME66, but the ME66 is cheaper. You see it a lot in schools teaching film crafts because it’s less expensive.
Look to Sennheiser, Schoeps, Neumann, Sanken and even Audio Technica for better choices. The Audix SCX-1hc also fits in there.
If you’re planning to use the mic on the camera, what do you plan to shoot? I ask because a camera mounted mic seldom gets close enough to get really good sound.

Yes, Ty, i agree from A to Z. I just Shot a Movie using the 416 and I fell in love. Amazing warm 70s sound. Totally loved it, but when I saw the price on eBay, my smile faded.
I know, you have to invest to get something good, but what can I do – I’m a film maker in the middle east- meaning I operate on the bottom line of the food chain ;-).
Any suggestion of a mic in the 200$ area, that sounds a bit close to the 416?Sascha.

actually, yes, and the at4053b is a good indoor boom mic.
