    any mic with an interference tube, which is what’s on the business end of a shotgun, is not recommended for regular, non-sound stage interiors, or for exteriors with a lot of reflective surfaces like store fronts, blacktop parking lots, etc, then a supercardioid or hypercardioid is recommended to prevet the pickup of off-axis sound.

    Use good headphones or real audio monitors, not lap top speakers.
