I am At a samll production company and we are trying to figure out this network rendering thing. We can get it to work, but it gives us a .psd for every frame. We changed the output module to a quicktime movie, but then the computer cannot render. It comes up with a pre flight error that reads:

“Pre-Flight Error: “Skip Existing Files” is available only with ONE output module of type “Sequence”.
Any ideas how to get a quicktime movie in the end. I really do not want to drop all the .psd’s into final cut and then export as a QT.
    Thanks

you can’t. Network rendering only works with image sequences. The only way I know ofto render a mov with networked computers is using x-factor.It comes with the latest version of AE but only a two machine license is included. For 6 machines I think it is $500 or $600. Unlimited license is $2000.

That’s right, you’ll need to render to a sequence of frames (since it is assumed that networked computer will create frames out of order). The good news is that once you have used Network Rendering to number crunch your time intensive projects, it is super quick to make a simple project that creates the quicktime (or whatever) you want out of the frame sequence.

It’s a 2 step process but not at all painful.
