  • Color blue turned black in the preview of my video project

Posted by Willem Dermaut on April 22, 2020 at 5:02 pm

I made a fairly long and complex video with sony vegas pro 13, I recently noticed that my blue colors were turned black in the preview window. When I start a new project my blue colors appear, so I probably changed something in my project, but I don’t know what.

For example, if I add from the media generator tab the solid color blue, it shows as black in my preview screen.

Appreciate all the help you can give me!

Hi Willem! That’s an excellent Controlled test. Need a detailed ScreenGrab of your Timeline to determine just what you’ve done. Are you adding the Blue to a New Project?

VectorScope for BLUE. This is what I mean:

Can you SEE that tiny Dot in the Blue area?

Willem, it would appear you have an ACTIVE Project FX:

Why? And what is it? We have discovered the Culprit.

Quick Test is to Click on the FX Bypass on the Preview Toolbar.

We MAY have discovered the culprit. It’s called the Video Output FX and affects ALL the Project.

Yep, I disabled it and my project became blue again! I didn’t really know about this function, so I must’ve pressed it by mistake.

Anyway, thank you very much for the help, truly a lifesaver!

Well you’ve Bypassed the FX. If that CHAIN Icon is still GREEN then you do have an Active FX. Click on it to discover just what VIDEO FX you have. Clicking on BY PASS isn’t a solution. Do you understand?
