Degrading Picture Quality
Hello,
I’m having a problem where the still images I put in the video, end up being blurry when exporting. I’ve tried a few different settings so far, but the best I managed to do was lower the degradation amount, but it’s still there, and this is a problem, because I need to render some parts of the video multiple times, for a custom transition effect I have planned involving the green screen effect.

You are talking about the red square with the black diagonal lines, right ?
If that is the case, you have a picture that is only 60 X 60. The resolution is much to low. Get one with the biggest possible resolution/pixel count. Images will degrade when you blow them up, It is always far better to make a pic smaller than to make it bigger. One should always start with the highest quality possible.

Sorry if it was misleading, but that is not the full picture, it’s just to show how much the resolution degrades, the left side being the original, the right being post rendering. The original picture itself is 1920×1080.

That make way more sens. Is there a chance that you can upload you pic in the exact size, format, etc.. as the one you are trying to use in your project ?

Hi Rafal,
Do you get the same results if you render using the MainConcept AVC/AAC, or MAGIC AVC/AAC? I really cannot tell much difference, and would not know which was the original from the rendered from that small sample.

I think I might’ve fixed it, but now I need to know if having “Project Properties” set at 60.000fps or 59.940fps, will have any difference when exporting into the locked 59.940fps, like frame staggers and such.

Sadly, I have not, it’s close, and may be unnoticeable after 2-3 re-renders, but I still notice slight drop in quality when motion is involved, after 5 re-renders.
The left side being re-rendered 5 times, the right side is rendered once.
I used the same settings I posted above. -

Let’s go with process of elimination. Can you upload somewhere your raw graphic file(s) that you are using. Lets start by looking at that first to see if there is anything affecting your results.

Rafal, each time you render your media, there is going to be a loss of quality. The best practice is to render only once, maybe twice and then deliver the product. However, there are intermediate codecs that will present a visually lossless render and are much better if we need multiple renders. Of course the very best would be to render using a lossless codec, but they create huge files and are sometimes more dangerous than using a good intermediate such as Cineform or DNxHD.
What is the render settings you are using to do these five renders?
