  Stage Lighting washout overexposure on only one person

  The stage lighting on a last minute job was too bright on one area of the stage.
  Unfortunately is was the on the main artist.
  I will fix the lighting problem at the source for future event at this location.

  I know overexposure is a point of no return problem.
  But… I could use help trying to soften/correct this current video
  Some of the new plug ins are unfamiliar to me.
  I’ve used vegas pro 9 on and off for several years.
  I’ve upgraded to vegas pro 14.

  I’ve read many post on color correction and levels.
  but my research time is running short.
  Thank you. I respect and appreciate all I have already learned just by reading existing posts

  Bob, here’s a technique I stumbled across on the Sony Vegas forum a few years ago.

  Put 3 filters, a “Invert” (at 100%), “Color Corrector”, “Invert” (at 100%).
  Then lift up the gamma of the color corrector in the middle.
  This darkens highlights first, in the logarithmic fashion, more like a “iris closing” way.
  You can also put a color corrector secondary to select reds and lower the gamma a bit.

  Here are two screen shots for you.
  The first one is the setting I used.
  The second is after my (rather limited) attempt at correction.
  I masked the singer on the right so that any adjustments would only affect her.

  I’m working to see what improvements I can get with this trick.
  Then I need to brush up on masking to leave the rest of the video alone.
