  • SLOW Project Load — Did V14 change File I/O routines? Crash on opening Render dialog.

    I’m having two problems tonight with Vegas 14.

    PROBLEM #1 SLOW project load

    When loading my V14 project, it is taking *21 minutes* to load.
    0-3% instant
    @3% 11 minutes
    @ 11% 10 minutes –> Timeline populates then and project seems loaded.

    @ 3% my CPU was at 16% (Vegas using 15%), memory @ 28% and Disk I/O at 52 MB/s
    When loaded fully, CPU was at 36% (Vegas using 33%), memory @ 56%.

    I loaded a V10 version of this project into V10, and it loads instantly. (that version was from beginning of day — since then I’ve tweaked LOTS of edits, audio envelopes, and added media effects (mostly color correct).

    To assure it wasn’t my changes, I then loaded that same V10 version of the project into V14 as a control. Similar results to my newer V14 version of that project.
    0-6% 3 minutes
    6%-11%->100% 11 minutes
    Sat at 100% for another 11 minutes then the timeline loaded.

    Problem #2 – CRASH when selecting “Render-As” menu

    As soon as I choose -> , Vegas 14 crashes. (the dialog does come up shortly after the error reporting dialog appears.

    If I start with an empty project, add something small (e.g. 5-seconds solid color media generator), then Render-As dialog opens just fine.

    Hi,

    Do you use .mxf / .m2t files in your project accindentally?

    If yes, I think you should report to Magix.

    Best regards

    Not accidentally — yes, there is one .M2T file in the project (actually two, but the “control” (old version of the project) with Vegas-10 and Vegas-14 only has one of the .M2T files in it, the “SAT_LEFT1” clip.
