  • Adding label to track ?

Posted by Rick Hughes on November 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm

    Using Sony Movie Studio 12

On a video I may add several individual pieces of music on a single track ..(as apart to separate audio tracks)

As there may be a number of files in the ‘project media’ window it can sometimes get difficult to know which I have used.
Is there a way to add a label onto a track .. i.e. give it a name.

As an example … could have a 15 min video track and I have 5 separate mp3 files …. as I put all these on the same audio track … easier to visualise envelopes, fade in etc. Be good to be able to apply a label to each of the files where they appear in the timeline.

Seems so obvious I guessing you can, would assume if you right click and event you could add a name – but not so ,,, can it be done ?
Or even add automatically the name from the media file if that is an option.

I know if I used separate tracks I can name each track.

    View – Active Take Information.
Ctrl + shift + I is the keyboard shortcut.
This is in Vegas Pro so I’m not sure if you have it in Movie Studio. It’s worth a try 🙂

It’s exactly the same in Movie Studio 13.

Rick, I’m glad to hear that it worked for you. I have it enabled all the time.

Yes, but how do you turn on the labels that usually (in my case) appear to the left of each track – the ones where you can mute a give track, for example? I never want these to go away, but sometimes they do… I suppose I must have inadvertently pressed some keystroke combination.

A quick way to match up events on your timeline to the files in the media manager is to select the events you want, then right click>Select in Project Media list. It will highlight all of the source media files that you have selected on your timeline. I hope that helps. Thanks!
