Filming a life story. I would like to add photos as the story goes along in film.
I there one way of doing this that is more effective than another?

I mean would you just paste insert them into the movie time line or is there some way to over lay the film with the picture momentarily. I read something about opacity controls, can this come into play here. Which would look smoother in transition.

Just drop the photos on a track above the video and make them the length you want (click drag the right side), the size you want ie pic in pic (pan and crop). Vegas looks from the top down.

Hi Ed,

Try using track motion so you can resize youe pictures where you want them placed on your video. You might need a number of different tracks for the amount of pictures you have.

IMO track motion can get a little confusing, especially if you want pics in different places and on the same track. Thats why I recommended event pan and crop. If you are zooming in then I believe that you want track motion as you will not lose resolution as you do with pan and crop (or is it the other way around? Now I am confused.

Terry, Track Motion is OK for zooming out but not zooming in as it resizes the image to your project property size.
For this reason, I personally use Pan/Crop most of the time.

Do I not have as many options if I just Paste insert photos into the video timeline?

I really just want to show a photo, maybe zooom a bit as it pans, as the movie narration moves along ie as my parents mention something in the movie, show a pic of it then move along.

Ed, just pasting photos on the timeline won’t give you the options to zoom and/or pan that the Pan/Crop tool will.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s a very useful tool.
