Render cancelled by user – nothing happens, any way to save my project?
Hi all,
I’ve made a mistake. I spent a few hours putting something together in Vegas 7 (I know, old) and never saved it. I started to render and then wanted to cancel out but when I did, it just says “Render cancelled by user” and the dialog box doesn’t go away. I’ve left it for a few hours now and no change. My pointer still has the little sand timer next to it.
Will Vegas auto save my project so I can recover it if I end the program while it’s in this little “thinking” phase? Should I let it go over night and see if it ever cancels?
Any responses will be much appreciated!

There should be an autosaved project with your project name and the extension .veg.bak but since you never saved it you might not have this file. If you did, it would be called Untitled.veg.bak. If you don’t see that file, you have nothing backed up.

Thanks for the response JR! I’ve done a search for it and nothing came up. It would be Untitled as that is what it says on the project currently. Is this because I never saved anything? 🙁
Do you think there’s any chance it’ll correct itself if I let it run long enough? Might it create a backup when I end the program. I’m grabbing at straws here. Thanks.

You ave nothing to loose by waiting. I’m almost certain you will loose everything if you kill it… but it doesn’t sounds good. 🙁

Thanks again, John, but it actually did autosave. I got my project back….albeit with some other issues, which I’m solving now. I appreciate your help!
