  • What codec should I use to render SonyVegas project to DavinceResolve?

    Hello everyone!

I have to get SonyVegas project to DavinciResolve for color correction. SonyVegas running on PC and Davinci running on Mac. I want to render as high quality video as possible and then use Davinci scene detection. What is the best format and codec for render? I need to best quality for color correction.

    Thank you!

I would use Avid DNxHD for all video transfers between PC and Mac. I have a tutorial on my web site on how to create the Vegas Pro template for it:

Avid DNxHD Template for Vegas Pro

You’ll also need to install the Avid DNxHD codec on the Mac. This should give you excellent results across the two systems.

I always take my files into Resolve first, do my corrections, then I export for editing.

I’m not sure if that’s how others do their workflow, but it’s easier for me if I do it this way.

Dave, you color correct all your footage before exporting them to SVP ? Wow how long does it take you ? Plus won’t you be color correcting footage you will remove later in editing ?
