  • PAL – Render and Burn DVD – I’ve never done before!

Posted by Dave Petteruto on February 7, 2015 at 4:13 pm

Hello Everyone, I need to render video (widescreen) and burn a DVD to send to Germany. So I guess I need to go PAL? If so, do render my AC3 the normal way and then render my video using the “DVD Architect PAL Widescreen video stream”? If correct, should I go with the standard settings? Do I do anything different in DVD Architect (6.0)? Is there any way I can check the final DVD to see that it plays correctly? Anything else I need to know?

    Thanks
    Dave P.

[Dave Petteruto] “Do I do anything different in DVD Architect (6.0)?”

Don’t forget to start by creating a PAL Widescreen project in DVD Architect. Other than that, you are correct that the AC3 is the same and using the “DVD Architect PAL Widescreen video stream” is the correct approach.

You will run into the issue that PAL Widescreen is wider than NTSC Widescreen so don’t be surprised when you see pillar boxing of your NTSC source. If it bothers you, you can create PAL Widescreen project and nest your NTSC Widescreen project in it and then crop the whole thing to fit but you will loose some video top and bottom. You could also tell it to stretch when you render but I hate stretched video.

You should be able to check it on your PC but other than that, there is no way unless you know someone with a PAL player. BTW, most PAL players can play NTSC discs so check with whoever you are giving this to and see if you even need to go through all of this trouble.

Just burn as you regularly do and when your DVD reaches
Germany it will automatically be converted to the PAL
format in their devices…lol, lol (I’m just kidding) lol.

John has answered you how to go about it in the correct process Dave.
