  • Sequence of Still Images — Batch Process?

I’m using Sony Vegas 12.0. I have a time sequence that was shot by a still camera, the images saved as jpgs. I’d like to cut these shots together in rapid sequence–maybe even one shot per frame. Is there a way to batch these onto the timeline, putting them in alphabetical order and specifying the default duration of the clip? What I’d like to do is import the media, then drag and drop the jpgs onto the timeline and have the images appear in sequence on a single video track.

    Doable?

If the stills are sequentially numbered you can import them as an image sequence. Vegas treats each still as a frame of an effective video file. The project media will list the sequence as a single media file you can drop on the timeline. On import you specify the frame rate of the image sequence. Remember that you are not limited by the frame rates listed in the drop down list Vegas shows you. You can enter what you want.

Another way is to set your edit preferences for the default still image event length, and drop a bunch of stills on the timeline. Vegas will drop them sequentially as selected at the length you specified in prefs. You will get one event per still.

Well, this is bizarre. When I try to import a batch of jpgs and select all, I’m getting an error that half the files are not found. When I click on each file individually, the Open Sequence checkbox is greyed out on every other file. What could that mean?

No, simply hover the cursor over the first image in the sequence
until it’s highlighted, then select the Open Sequence box and then
    press Open.
