no picture for mp4 in vegas 8 – all ok in dvd architect 4
merry christmas to all
please, i have a strange problem and i cannot be able to understan why this happened
i am trying to import some candids mp4 videos that i have recorded with my sony xperia mobile phone into vegas pro 8 but i have no picture at all, the sound is ok
when i have imported the same videos into dvd architect v.4.5 everything is ok, sound/picture
i need to edit those videos with vegas pro 8
why this happened
i have the k-lite video codecs latest mega pack
windows xp sp3 x32 bits

k-lite video codecs may of over written the Vegas ones which may cause a problem. It is not advisable to install any other bunch of codecs unless you have the single specific one for your video. Best to check the video to see what codecs it is using…. Maybe use a third party application to convert it if all else fails…

K-Lite codec pack is not recommended for you to install at all.
Whenever audio is present but video is not seen, its always because
the codec (Decoder) is not present on the system.Steve Rhoden

i still do not understand why in dvd architect everything is fully ok with video and audio

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there’s nothing you can do except upgrade to a newer version of Vegas. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and video from it will open in Pro 9 and 10 but not in Pro 8.

This is an important point. You can’t expect old software to be able to open new video formats. Vegas Pro 8.0 came out in 2008 which was 5 years ago! The Samsung Galaxy S3 was announced on March 14, 2013, 5 years later. If you want to edit the latest video formats, you need to use the latest software.

I don’t know. It could be because DVD Architect just needs to know how to play back the stream but Vegas Pro would also need to know how to edit the stream? It could be a bug in Vegas Pro 8.0? It’s hard to say with such old software. Make sure that you are using the latest version of Vegas Pro 8.0c Build 260.
You could always use another program like AviDemux to transcode the video into something that Vegas Pro 8.0 can edit.

Well… as I said in my other post, you could always convert the video to a format that Vegas Pro 8.0 can edit. People do this all the time on the Mac… everything gets converted to ProRes and then you just need to edit ProRes files. I would use CineForm for this kind of work, i.e., convert all the files to CineForm and edit those in Vegas Pro 8.0. Of course you would need to buy CineForm but it comes with a batch converter.

yes, that’s what i thought about vegas
the version of vegas that i have is pro 8.0c build 260
i will try to convert my videos with the xilisoft ultimate v.6 video converter to a format that vegas can recognize
i assume that i have to keep the same video and audio bit rate as my original videos
