Getting Real Tired of Sony Crashes!

I still get too many crashes per day. This afternoon 3 times so far. No rhyme or reason. All I’m doing is editing a 1-camera program and adding so effects and audio tracks. Nothing out of the norm for me. But V12 just likes to crash way too often.

The computer is a powerhouse with 32GB RAM, tons of drive space everywhere, Q4000 graphics card running WIN 7 64bit. But still V12 doesn’t like something or some setting is off somewhere.

Seems the only real solution is to get a V12 guru in here and review everything. Or is really just how V12 operates?

What do you have your RAM Preview set to? I’ve found anything above the 200MB default can cause stability problems.

What Quadro 4000 drivers are you running? I’m using the 320.00 Performance drivers.

You have 311.35. Try updating them to 320.00 (i.e., 9.18.13.2000). These seem to be very stable.

I’ll try that. The only other cards in the system are my BlackMagic DeckLink for I/O and a RAID card that interfaces with 2 external RAIDs. All my video footage is stored on these 9TB RAID-5s.

I would get tired of it, too if something were crashing this often, but I can count the number of Vegas 12 crash episodes here on one hand.

It isn’t Vegas. It’s your PC that’s crashing.

But while you are fixing your PC, here’s a convenient (free) program that will save your work in the background.

John saw this post – I have not been able to render Cineform AVIs with my Quadro 4000 GPU turned on – I tried the 320 update and it still crashed – does cineform avi even use the GPU? Should I just leave it off for renders? Although It seems to estimate a longer time to render without it 7 hours vs almost 5 hours.

John, down loaded those new drivers and installed. No crashing yet but I haven’t been at the edit bay that much today. I’ll keep you posted.
