Nesting
Ok let’s assume I nested a project(s).
Let’s say I wanna save my project and copy all media with it.
I click on SAVE AS(copy media with project).
Will Vegas copy only that nest veg(1 media) or that entire veg project with all files separate etc?
After saving and copying all files I guess that nest veg is free, right?
I mean I can move it to another folder(or even delete it) cause project has nothing more to do with it.We have so much time and so little to do! / Willy Wonka

Free from its supporting Media? Why? At the very best a Nest is only a proxy file created to allow signposting to the actual footage within that “other” Veg. That’s why when we/I Right Click and open to edit that Nest, Vegas has the means to call upon ALL the supporting Media. Now, if you mean copying ALL files then yes, ALL the Files/Media to allow the Net veg to be edited.
I can’t see how there could be another way.

I’m asking if I save(copy media with project) the main project which is nesting the other one, if all files from the nested project will be copied too?
If the the whole nested project will be copied to the main project folder.
If not so I would always have to keep that nested project at the same place im my computer cause if not, the main project won’t be able to find it, I guess I should keep the nested project folder inside of my main project folder, right?We have so much time and so little to do! / Willy Wonka

save the main project with “copy all files” to a single main folder. inside of it organize your media any way you like. opening your new project vegas will ask you for new location, replacement or will give you search option for the first media ‘unfound’. search option is the easiest. after the first media is found vegas will automatically recognize other media files if they are kept in the same folder. if not, you will use search again until all medias are found in locations which you just organized to your liking. after that you can save this new main project and all your medias will now be re-linked to new locations and vegas will from now on find them normally during the next opening. (unless you don’t move them again)
now you can delete all original medias from all over your disk. they all are copied now.
on deleting original media: very comfortable option is to do it not from system explorer but from the original project file – this way you don’t have to search them – especially useful when your media are spread all over. two remarks here: watch out with the medias that you have stored on your computer for multi-use like sound fx, background etc.
and for the end: while deleting medias or just any files, don’t chat with your girl or admire a rainbow through the window, you really must be aware what and from where you are deleting.

The VASST Ultimate S Pro plug-in has an option on the Project tab to Archive Nested Project Files with Trim that solves this problem for you. It will copy all of the media from the nested projects and re-connect them in their new location with one click. The copied project will open without any problems.

Will that “Trim” the nested media as per the Nest OR give me the option to Forward Edit, meaning if I have a need to get beyond the Trim I can?

It uses the standard Vegas Pro trim behavior which is the option to trim certain media types to just the part that you used with pre and post roll settings.
In other words, it calls this dialog in Vegas Pro:
The result is standard Vegas Pro behavior for copying with trim (i.e., it only supports trimming media that Vegas Pro can trim).

So, in essence that’s the END of the value of a “Nest”. If that’s the case then, for any future proofing, one needs to be aware that one couldn’t do any further Nesting Edits beyond that 2 seconds.
I’ve always been wanting to ask that.

Guys I think I’m not making myself clear enough.
The only thing I wanna know is:
I have a project with another project nested.
If I click SAVE AS(copy media with project), will that nested project be saved in my main project’s folder?
Then both will be in the same folder so now I can move, delete whatever that nested project?
Or not, when I click SAVE AS(copy media with project), nested project a won’t be copied to my main project’s folder?We have so much time and so little to do! / Willy Wonka
