which bit rate do you use for 720p HD?
Posted by Gilles Gagnon on March 21, 2012 at 6:29 pmHi Folks!
I have to give a client a 720p HD video.
Which bitrate do you recommend I use when rendering to maintain quality and reduce filesize a bit??
thanks for any tips 🙂

March 21, 2012 at 6:39 pmGilles, I like the Sony AVC Internet preset for this.
If you want to see how good it looks, take a look at (my latest production!!) the various video segments at https://www.stclaircollege.ca/healthsciences/
Everything was shot at 1440x1080i and then run through this preset to get what you see there. -

March 21, 2012 at 7:27 pmThanks Mike that’s what I use as well. I was wondering if lowering the bitrate would be worth it though.
my preset is VBR avg 8000, max 16000
is this yours to? should be unless min magically changed.Gilles

not necessary to fiddle with the bitrate.Steve Rhoden

March 21, 2012 at 11:19 pmThanks for your valuable input guys.
I used Main Concept as I’ve had clients with video/audio sync issues when viewing the SONY AVC render before. When I used MC, no issues.I’ll try Sony AVC again… this is a new client.

That is just ridiculous 🙁
Have you emailed Sony to ask them why it’s not there? -

No, I didn’t. I guess maybe it is time I did.

March 22, 2012 at 3:16 amI have contacted Sony about this and have not gotten any word about any updates to correct. I just use 10 when I need to render for internet – not the most efficient but workable for now.

March 22, 2012 at 4:25 amIn the interim, could you not create a Template in Vegas 11 that is identical to Vegas 10’s Internet 1280×720-30p? You would have to change the Frame size to Custom and set Width and Height accordingly and duplicate the other values.
