ATI Driver Upgrade: .Vegs now hang on load!
In order to attempt to reduce crashes with Vegas 11, I decided to try and install the newest, shiniest ATI drivers. To my immediate alarm, this created a brand new, never seen before problem. My files, my projects, which I have worked so hard on, will now not load. Oy vey. One project hangs at 7% and another at a measly 21%.
So, I rolled back the drivers, uninstalled all the fancy software, and resolved to settle for oldish drivers. Surprise surprise, the problem remains. The rollback does not seem thorough, but with system restore points I am stuck with the problems I have.
Details: This does this to the current two projects that I’m working on, but it loads other (which happen to be smaller) projects just fine. I can’t completely confirm if there’s a correlation with file size, number of cuts, or amount of tracks that are laid down. But the problem does not happen with all files.
Possible solutions: I’ve read that it may be a corruption of a plug-in or a file. A corrupted file seems unlikely since the problem popped up in more than one project at once. But I’m willing to give it a try. Someone said that you can try moving all the files somewhere else and adding them one by one to see which file is the culprit. I’d be willing to try that, but does anyone know what order vegas loads files in? Does this route seem like a waste of time?
Reinstall vegas? I don’t want to do this since it took me forever to figure out how to install plugins and am scared I’ll mess things up further, but I guess as a last resort it’s an option. I’d rather try to fix the problem than bypass it.
Halp!
