Hello, I’d like some help in figuring out why its taking me 12+ hours to render 15 minutes of screen-captured video game footage in 720p. Right now, the elapsed time is 12 hours and it says that there is still 20 hours to go, even though I know the time estimation is most likely false, I feel like it shouldn’t have even taken this long.

    My computer specs are
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    Mobo: Asus P8P67 Deluxe
    Processor: Intel i7 2600k
    RAM: 8 GB
    Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 Ti
I have only one HDD with 860 gigs left.
If buying an SSD will help with the rendering process (which I have been planning on doing anyways), I am prepared to purchase one.
    Programs:
    -Sony Vegas Pro 11 (64-bit)
-Everything was recorded on a Hauppauge HD PVR at 30 frames in 720p

All drivers are updated to current.

I’ve set Vegas’ priority to high in task manager and ended any non-necessary processes such as my web browser, media player, etc. and let it render while I went to work. Once I got home from work and saw that it wasn’t finished, I let it render overnight as I slept, and I have just woken up now and seen that it still hasn’t finished yet.

My rendering procedure went as follows:
    1. Imported media
    2. Clicked ‘Project Video Properties’
    3. Clicked ‘Match Media Settings’
    4. Changed ‘Full Resolution Rendering Quality’ to Best
    5. Clicked ‘File’ -> ‘Render As’
    6. I’ve tried ‘Windows Media Video 11’, ‘Sony AVC/MVC’, and ‘Main Concept AVC/AAC’ all in 1280x720p in both wmv for the former and mp4 for the latter two, as I intent to upload this footage to YouTube in HD, and the render times have not changed for any of them, all take over 24 hours.
    7. In the customize template options, I always go to the ‘Video Rendering Quality’ drop-down box and select Best.
    8. I begin the rendering process.

    This is very frustrating.

That rendering time is indeed a bit strange and should not be
for just 15 minutes….What filters do you have on these clips?

    I don’t believe I have any.
After importing the clips, I went straight matched video settings and went straight to rendering. I have no effects.

Something’s not right – how big is the original media file? If it’s under 2Gb then you can put it and the veg file into a dropbox/public folder then send me the URL. Heck – just send me the veg file.

If I want to send a large file, I use Dropbox.
Dropbox is one of those handy inventions where the more you use it, the more you come up with reasons to use it. Dropbox is a cloud-based file sharing service that syncs file across all your computers. It works with files (video, graphics, text, anything) of any size, and it syncs automatically whenever a new file appears or a change is detected. Best of all, it’s free for a 2GB account. Use this link (https://db.tt/KCWoOts) to get your free Dropbox and we both get an additional 250 MB.

Isn’t this the second instance in the last two weeks of a solid i7 setup showing massive rendering times? I think the other thread had a GTX 560 Ti as well. Have you tried disabling GPU acceleration to see if the 2600k takes 30+ hours all by itself? Are you editing in Vegas on the same rig that recorded the game footage? If so what else do you have in your PCI slots?

Not to divert the subject but I use drop box too, it’s very easy to use. I have bought sv11 but have put it on the shelf until problems like long renders(which I have read several of on this forum) dissapear.

The problems will disappear when the users fix their PCs. I am amazed at how many people expect a later release will somehow magically fix their PC.

There is no reason you can’t have multiple versions of Vegas installed. Some people keep every version they have owned.

Oh o.k. Your saying that some of the blame needs to be diverted from sv? Well the two things I am looking forward to using is the stabilizer and better handling of canons dslr .mov files. I cannot do any project without the prerender function.

    Donnie,
    1. take a look in your task manager to see if the processors are running at 100%.
    2. See if the supersampling or the motion blur function are turned on or off
