  Can’t get smart rendering to work in Vegas Pro 11

  Would appreciate any thoughts.

  I had a trial copy of Vegas Pro 10 and was merrily making a nice family video. Mostly using AVIs, and the software defaulted to “smart rendering” to make new AVIs when I editing things down.

  No problem.

  Trial ended this morning, so I paid the $599 for a real copy, but they made me upgrade to Vegas Pro 11.

  Now of course the rendering doesn’t work.

  I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get smart rendering to work again, despite looking up the help feature over and over. I’m choosing to render as AVI, but it still laboriously renders everything.

  Oh, and it drops the audio when I render as AVI, but not in other formats.

  I’m so frustrated that I paid $599 to get a WORSE experience with Vegas Pro!

  Any advice on how to get smart rendering to work? I’m in a bit of a panic trying to get this to work to finish up this video before a big family event!

  Ahh.

  OK.

  Somehow the Project Settings in Vegas 11 defaulted to something other than the native settings of the video I was editing.

  In Project Settings you can choose “match media” and tell it which media to match (I chose one of the videos I was editing) and it matches those settings.

  Then when you “match project settings” in the “render as” dialog, it does smart rendering (so no data loss).

  Now if I could just get that NewBlue Titler thing to work with my graphics card! 🙂

  Glad you got that sorted out…Try updating your graphics card
  driver to see if you have any luck to get Titler Pro working to a
  level. If not, you gonna have to get a more powerful graphics card.

  thanks for asking this question and your own comment. I have the same problem and it is very frustrating since rendering takes very long time when you cannot ‘smart render’.
  I followed your instructions to set project properties equal to the media settings.
  BUT, my big problem is I cannot find the “match project settings” in de ‘render’ dialog box. Hence, i can still not smart render my project. Can you help me out how to set the render dialog box correctly?
