easiest way to burn BD with DVDA-VegMStudio9
hello subject matter experts ! ( I do mean this)
just bought my blurayburner and want to re-render my VMS projects to bluray, but I want to save time 🙂
I now need to get DVD architect 5 (as 4.5 does not burn BD) but with vegasmoviestudio 9 (platinum if this matters) I can render bluray and apparently burn directly to Bluray (not sure if menu BD thought)Questions:
Which method is best ( directly from VMS or via DVDA)?If I create a menu driven BD with DVDA 5.0, is there a specific format to use which will avoid re-rendering (hence saving lots of time) ?
Idealy I’d like a format that keeps the highest HD quality (my source files are from a sony HD 1080P camcorder) can’t figure if AVCHD or MPG will burn directly from DVDa.
Will I have to render a second audio file (Ac3) like I used to for DVDs or is this now thing of thepast with bluray formats.

It depends if you want nice menus or not. VMS will simply burn the movie with no menus. Sort of like a VHS tape. You just put it in and it plays. DVD Architect will allow you to author a Blu-ray disc with menus.

Yes, there should be templates under MainConcept MPEG2 and Sony AVC that begin with the word “Blu-ray”. These are the templates that you should use to make a Blu-ray compatible stream. Note: You will also have to render your audio separately as either PCM or Dolby Digital AC3.

Both will work. I usually use the one that matches by source. So if I shot HDV I’ll use MPEG2 but if I shot AVCHD I’ll use AVC.

Yes you will. This will keep your audio as high a quality as possible because you will be rendering directly from the original source.
