  need assistance with merging

  Hello.

  I have 2 .avi files. Let’s call them A and B. They both have the same format, etc.

  Can I use Vegas to combine A and B into 1 file?

  I want the single file to be a simple merge of A’s and B’s content. No compression. No enhancements. The combined file should have the same format and characteristics of A and B.

  Is there a simple way to do this without having to set a number of parameters in Vegas?

  I used to use VirtualDub to do this. It was as simple as first opening A. Then selecting [File / Append AVI} and then selecting B. Then doing [File / Save As].

  The new combine file’s size would equal the combined file sizes of A and B.

  Is there just as simple a process in Vegas?

  Nope. The file would have to be a format that Vegas knows how to “smart render” and then you’d have to know the proper template to use. It’s not easy and it’s not what Vegas was designed to do.

  I recommend you keep doing it this way. You know, a carpenter doesn’t go to work with one tool in their pouch. Use the right tool for the job. In this case it’s VirtualDub.
