Overlaying bad video frames
Hello all, first time user here. I have Vegas 8.0 and am editing a dance video (Flamenco dancing with guitar if you would like to know) and the video has short lapses of junk (garbled frames) that appears in specific frames. I would like to copy the closest good frame and paste it over the following bad frame(s) without disturbing the sound track. I have used section delete successfully with other projects, but that will disturb the beautiful sound track here.
I have pawed all over Help and Index, and cannot seem to find how to do this.

Vegas doesn’t have built-in commands for replacing bad frames. Only by hands or using scripts. As far as I know, Excalibur and Vegasaur plug-ins have this feature.

As additional input:
I am willing to do it by hand – this particular video is 14 minutes with about 10 bad spots ranging from a single frame to a 15 frames. My idea is to make it appear that the video is ‘frozen’ during those bad spots while the music plays on.

In that case, here’s the approach I would take.
Insert a Velocity envelope on the video track.
Place markers (not necessary but I find them helpful in lining things up) at the last good frame of a bad section and the first good frame following it.
Double-click the line at each marker to add a point.
Double-click twice more between these two points.
Right-click each one and “Set to – 0” (velocity, that is).
Hold down the Alt key to prevent vertical movement and drag point #2 directly under point #1.
Repeat with point #3 and drag it under point #4.
What happens is that the video plays along until it hits the first marker at which point the video will instantly freeze until it hits marker #2 when it instantly resumes normal speed.
Repeat this procedure for all bad spots.
