SynthEyes Beefs Up Image Preprocessor

Adds Kurves Color Correction, Image Preprocessor Presets, RotoMasking Improvements

Andersson Technologies LLC (Phoenixville, PA) has released SynthEyes 2210, the latest version of its 3-D tracking and match-moving application for Windows, macOS (with native M1 support), and Linux. The new version focuses on SynthEyes’s front end: the image preprocessor and the rotomasking capabilities.

Highlights of the new 2210 version include:

• New “Kurves” spline-curve-based color correction tool in the image preprocessor.
• New PrepSet Manager for image preprocessor presets. Keep PrepSet preferences, store them in files, move them from camera to camera, duplicate them, etc.
• Roto splines can now be clicked to select them, dragged, control-rotated, or ALT-/command-scaled, or control-ALT/command-scaled-and-rotated. Multiple control points can be selected and moved at once, via shift- or control-clicking various points, or by lassoing.
• Per-spline Ignore and Invert checkboxes on the Roto panel.
• New “RotoMask” button on the camera view’s View toolbar, which overlays a checkerboard showing which pixels would be assigned to the current Active Tracker Host by the auto-tracker, giving a quick way to check the setup. When RotoMask and Alpha are on, the binary matte that you can save from Save Sequence is shown.
• Many additional detailed roto improvements. See the RotoMasking in SynthEyes 2210 tutorial.
• “Greenscreen” Keying panel improvements: you can now use the full user interface while it’s open, you can set the color with an eyedropper mode or via the swatch, and the camera view can show a checkerboard with selectable alpha or the final binary mask. Can now be launched by menu item for key accelerators for easier scripting.
• New Shot/Add Render Camera to easily create shot-less cameras for independent (non-tracked, still or animated) preview renders of the 3-D environment. When a perspective view is locked to a render camera, Dolly, Look, Orbit, Pan, and field of view changes animate the render camera.
• New “Script/Trackers/Project tracker to new Moving Object” — projects a (2-D) tracker onto 3-D meshes to form a new moving object, with various options to control the orientation of the created moving object.
• Workaround for a Blender 3.2x crash reading SynthEyes exports of large meshes (due to the buggy Python in Blender 3.2). The workaround exports hexadecimal data, with a 2x larger file and somewhat slower write, but with much faster execution by blender. New “Hex mesh workaround” control to enable or disable it.

SynthEyes 2210 is available now. For in-support SynthEyes customers, the new version comes at no extra cost. Upgrade or renewal pricing for earlier SynthEyes customers varies depending on the details. Customers should use the online store to determine specific upgrade pricing for all versions.

Important: SynthEyes 2210 floating licenses require SyFlo2; SyFlo2 works only with SynthEyes 2210 or later. SynthEyes and SyFlo2 must be installed together. (SyFlo2 is no charge to existing SyFlo licencees.)

New single-OS seat licenses of SynthEyes Pro cost 499 USD. The cross-platform Pro seat license runs 599 USD. Floating Pro licenses are 699 USD each; Managed Seat licenses are 599 USD; Managed Temporary licenses start at 100 USD for one month, with a minimum of 5 licenses. A new SyFlo2 license for floating and managed licenses is 250 USD. For students and hobbyists, an entry-level Intro version (https://www.ssontech.com/introlim.html) is 299 USD. Purchasing is online at the company website.
