Sonnet Announces Echo 13 Triple 4K Display Dock

Docking Station Harnesses DisplayLink® Technology to Provide Simultaneous Support for Three 4K @60Hz Displays; Provides Up to 100 Watts Charging Power to Laptop Computers, Plus USB-A, USB-C®, and Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity

What’s New:
Sonnet Technologies today announced the Echoâ„¢ 13 Triple 4K Display Dock, the latest offering in the company’s popular Echo family of docking stations. The DisplayLink® certified Echo 13 provides simultaneous support for three 4K @60Hz displays and includes three DisplayPort® 1.2 ports, three HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) Type-C® Computer/Charging port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) Type-C 20-watt Charging port, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type A ports, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a 3.5 mm microphone jack, and an SDâ„¢ card slot. The Sonnet dock is compatible with Thunderboltâ„¢ 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4®, and USB-C® (Alt Mode DP) ports on Mac® (M1/M2 and Intel®), Windows®, and Chromebookâ„¢ computers.

What It Does:
Docking stations provide users with a convenient central location to connect multiple computer peripherals — such as input devices, storage devices, headphones, cell phones, etc. — instead of directly to their computer. The Sonnet Echo 13 Triple 4K Display Dock connects all of those peripheral devices — plus up to three DisplayPort or HDMI (or a mix of both) displays —through a USB-C cable (which also supports laptop computer charging with up to 100 watts of power).

Why It’s Important:
Many recent laptop computers — including the latest Apple® MacBook Air® models — include fewer peripheral ports and port types than those of the past, some with as few as two ports. With one of those ports sometimes also used for charging, the number and type of devices (including external displays) that can be plugged in directly is very limited. Additionally, the relatively small screen sizes of laptop computers are limiting, especially when a user runs multiple applications — or has multiple application windows open at the same time — and requires more workspace. The Echo 13 Triple 4K Display Dock overcomes these limitations by connecting three external displays plus seven other peripheral devices, charging the computer, supporting wired network connectivity, and reading SD memory cards, linking them all to a user’s computer through a single cable.

How It’s Distinctive:
The Echo 13 Triple 4K Display Dock includes several distinctive features:

  • Simultaneous Support for Three 4K @60Hz Displays, Even for M1 and M2 Series Mac Computers
Some competing multi-display docks only support slower 30Hz refresh rates. Some only support a 60Hz refresh rate on one connected display and 30Hz refresh rates on the others. Some offer 4K display support on only one port, while others only offer 1080p (HD) display support for all connected displays. Some support only Windows computers. The Echo 13 dock simultaneously supports three 4K (or lower resolutions such as 1080p) @60Hz displays — HDMI or DisplayPort (DP) or a mix of both — even when used with a MacBook Air computer (which natively supports only one external display).
  • Native Support for One Display; Second and Third Displays Supported via DisplayLink® Technology
The Echo 13 dock’s display connections are segregated into three pairs, with one HDMI and one DP (DisplayPort) port per pair. The first pair supports either type of display natively, while the second and third pairs use technology built into the Echo 13 dock to each support a single display.
  • Rear Panel Computer/Charging (10Gbps USB) Port
The rear-mounted computer interface/charging port fulfills a frequent customer request, and provides up to 100W of power to charge laptops.
  • Front Panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) Type-C 20W Charging Port
This port is USB Type-C Charging–compliant; users may fast-charge iOS® devices (and other devices that charge via USB) connected to this port.

When You Can Get It:
The Echo 13 Triple 4K Display Dock (part number ECHO-DK3M-TB) is available now from Sonnet and its worldwide distribution and reseller partners at the suggested retail price of $239.99.
