New Version of das element Now Available

The VFX library software, das element, helps visual effects studios with tagging and organizing of assets libraries. This cross-platform software runs completely offline and gives a studio all the flexibility that is needed in modern VFX projects.

Element libraries play a significant role in the daily VFX workflow. It is very important that these libraries are well structured and organized so artists can quickly find the element that fits the shot best.

What to expect of the new version

With the latest update, many new features are introduced. The user interface adapted many improvements for an even better easy to-use and uncompromising user experience. Also, the software stability has been enhanced drastically to ensure high standards of reliability.

Does your library have many random previews that do not reflect the content of an element? The new version allows to generate so called “meaningful“ thumbnails for file sequences and movie files, which will automatically grab a representative frame for the element.

The support for project files has been added. Not only can users ingest PDFs, like camera reports or lineup sheets, but you will now also be able to organize Nuke templates, After Effects projects, Illustrator and Indesign files.

A file based database can now be used on servers, which reduces the need for IT support, leading to an easier and faster setup of the software.

The new rating system of elements allows users to even further group together certain elements by quality.

Many useful resources can be found on the das element YouTube Channel and the das element-ary school Documentation. From the initial setup of the software all the way to detailed tutorials on how to integrate everything with the render farm or combining it with any existing library structure.
