Wow, thank you SO much for getting back to me, regardless; that was just awesome of you!
Yes, I had gotten help through a MOD on this site by, I think, just uninstalling and reinstalling the program (and going into the registry to clean it up of Vegas files) and then everything worked just fine.
But I do hope your response does help someone else! Thank you again!

Um, I apologize for still being new, but how would I go about contacting Sony support? By phone? Or is there a website where they can help me walk through things?

Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 will load with no problems if I’m not trying to load a .veg file, just start it up and do nothing more. But when I do try to load the .veg file I need, or any other that I made from the trail version, there is definitely no peaks that I can see whatsoever. And what’s more, even when I load the program and THEN try loading my .veg file (through the open option under FILE) it completely opens the program again. I’m completely frustrated…

In reference to the Sony Vegas user, do you mean just someone else who uses Vegas and get them to see if they can open my file? Um, well, I don’t know anyone who could do that for me…and I do have two PC’s. The trail version was loaded on my laptop (the original trial version was on a desktop) but I received that error immediately when I tried loading the .veg file. And yes I have also tried loading a simple .veg file and it’s the same thing.
If it is a bad media asset or a plug-in problem, is there any way to fix it? Please help!

First of all, thank you SO much for getting back to me! I’ve been having this headache for the last two weeks, trying to figure out how to get the .veg file working again as I really don’t want to go back and do all that four-weeks of editing all over again!
I checked out to see just what version I have of Sony Vegas Pro 9.0, either 32 or 64, but all it tells me is “Build563”. Regardless, you had said there would be plug in error if I was going between the versions and that is not the problem I am having. But the problem I’m having makes no sense as all I did was uninstall the trail version and install the full version, never once moving the .veg files from where I had been using them (it was stored in it’s own folder the whole time). You suggested I try and move it (actually, there are several versions of the same .veg file, all in different folder and every single one gives that same error) to it’s original folder, but it’s already there and not working. And none of the files should be corrupt; they are MP4 video files, but the trail version took them without an issue (the trail version was definitely Sony Vegas Pro 9.0).
I did try moving the files to another location but when I loaded the .veg file to see if Vegas would ask me to find the files, it gives the same error. When I normally try to load any of my .veg files, it loads to 14% but after that it gives me that error: “An error occurred while loading the project whatever.veg. An error occurred while reading the file. Make sure you have read to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted.” I even tried, just for the heck of it, renaming the folder of the source files, but I’m immediately given the same error when I load any of the exact same .veg files (just in differen locations).
PLEASE tell me there’s hope! All my .veg files can’t be corrupt and completely not able to be worked with/opened!

I have a similar situation…I had been using the trail version of Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 and since the trail has now run out, uninstalled the trail version and installed the full Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. I had moved the .veg file I had been using/saving to another folder and tried opening it up (from that same folder) with Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 and it loads to 14% before crashing and giving me this error: “An error occurred while loading the project whatever. veg. An error occurred while reading the file. Make sure you have read to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted.” Does the 32/64 bit matter? I do believe the trail version was 32 bits and the full version I have now is 32-64 bits. I can’t see that being an issue, but as I’m not sure what’s going on, I figured I’d mention everything I know/have noticed. Regardless, isn’t the .veg file all I need (maybe besides the videos I had used to make the edited video, which I still do have) to have it work/load on Sony Vegas Pro 9.0?
