    I don’t know what format the audio is (I’m not too experienced in editing media anyway).

    Like I said, the older laptop (Widnows xp) with the exact same version of Sony Vegas (6.0a) does show the audio in the editing area.

    Anyway, I’ve now upgraded to Sony Vegas 9.0b, had to pay only $30, very reasonable I think. So far it all works fine.
