The site you recommended is very good, but a little pricy, it’s $79 for 10 minutes of DSLR clip. They have this “Treasured” free diagnose software that let you see the clip which is awesome.
But since I’m Chinese, my cousin found an online service store under App “TaoBao” (A chinese online platform that has all kinds of stores selling merchandises or services) who does the same thing. I got a 9 minutes clip repaired for 100 RMB, which is 15 US Dollar:) But they only communicate on TaoBao or WeChat, and they don’t use Google Drive, etc. only take files uploaded via the Chinese web “Baidu”. And payment is something called “AliPay” which is the Chinese version of Paypal. If you have a Chinese buddy, this can be done.

Thank you for all the info! I am a videographer. I used Canon 6D and recorded a speech at a wedding yesterday. There were several speakers and it went on for close to 25 minutes. I didn’t press stop and record even once thinking it just will split the file until the 29 minutes limit is reached, which I will never do again. So what happened was that the camera overheated and shut down at around 24 minutes, suddenly went black. I kept recording onto the same card for the rest of the night. After I downloaded the data, I found a DAT file over 4GB, and I found this thread. It happened that my chinese cousin is here and found an identical service by a company in China doing business on taobao.com. They did a great job for less than $30, recovered the file for me within a day. But it only had 13 minutes of movie. Now I wonder if the second part of the movie’s data is permenently lost since there was only 1 DAT file. For the people who had this problem, did you recover all your recording or just part of it? Thank you!
