I think all the manufacturers have some issues. Case in point, I bought four Hoodman 16GB cards and soon thereafter saw an ad for 16GB / Class10 Adata cards for about half the price. I bought four of those as well. After about a year of using all eight cards (along with a lot more), the only card to fail was one of the Hoodmans (it works but, but too many card read errors to be reliable).
I think it has more to do with data handling practices and environment than manufacturing. If the card can handle the initial tests, it should be reliable, but I’m using them now as backups as I have a Ki Pro as my main recorder.

I’ve “retired” from the reality / run & gun gigs for that very reason. They demand optional gear and effort for ridiculously low rates. I don’t even do any passoffs to some of the younger guys in the area if they ask. It’s become an epidemic and we should start a sticky thread with a listing of known offenders (the production companies and crew services).
It really shows a lack of respect and it also show how low they go on acceptable sound acquisition and overall production values.

Leave it on.
It uses so little power you can keep it on; with no heads spinning there’s not much else to “save”. I shot about 7 hours yesterday and used only two batteries (BP-60), the second still had over 180 minutes remaining when we were done.

[gary adcock] ” I do not understand the nature of your complaints.”
I do, He wants functionality that SHOULD be there, but is not.

To clarify what Don said, Your BVAP folder should be located inside another folder named of your choosing. I use names like “projectX-card1”.

Another one you may want to consider is the Beyer MC836.
It’s harder to obtain in the US, but I think it’s the best “short” shotgun I’ve ever used. What I like about the mic is that it cuts well with the Countryman B6 mics that I have – or as good as a boom and lav can cut together. The pattern is rather wide for a shotgun style and it’s extremely lightweight. I have the Sennheiser as well and while it is very good, the 836 seems to do better for me.

My setup is basic, using the EX-3 and the Letus Elite on the stock lens. It is supported by a split rail system (RedRock) and has the usual attachments (matte box, ff). The noise created is mechanical, in that it vibrates the camera, mattebox and tripod legs to the point where they emit a low frequency hum. Even when the Letus is mounted on the EX-3 with no other attachments and being operated handheld, the vibration resonates throughout the camera.
My theory is that the design is such that the ground glass is not counter-balanced as it should be.

I’ve got the Letus Elite. It cannot be used when recording sync sound. Not even with a boom mic. The vibration is totally unacceptable in a professional environment and I don’t think it is very good for the camera lens as well.
I too, sent it back to Letus to attempt to reduce the vibration to no avail. I keep it around for some “beauty” shots but otherwise, I rent a Pro35.

I use this:
https://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/microShoulderMountRigs
The shoulder mount itself can be used without rails and the tripod plate can be attached to the bottom so it can stay on the camera all the time. It’s still not as balanced as a full-sized camera, but it’s a lot better than the stock shoulder pad.
