Yeah, I read about people just sending out a job with DNxHD and shipping along the codec for the client to install with it.

ProRes 422 does have a slight color shift too.

Only dilemma I find is not being able to produce ProRes files on a PC. Do you find that to be an issue Stig?

Yeah I’m right here with Stig, which is why I ditched Apple last summer, waiting for this macpro to come around.

It’s the peripherals that scare me, not this ash tray computer. All those cords (only 4 USB ports? Really?), extra devices…it seems so hack. It’ll cost a lot of money, more time researching and building and waiting, etc.. I need more to work with one device that’s known to work well and get the job done- and affordably upgradable if need be. Let apple build a computer for its broader base of users.

  • I was under the impression that you couldn’t have such a mix of cards.

Please clarify, because I’m getting a little confused on the issue; that is, having a 680 and a titan in one machine. What I would be looking at though is the 780s… I have a 680 now, what if I have the 680 as the GUI and the 780 as the GPU? I didn’t think this would be possible though.

Thanks Peter (and Paul) for the responses.

What soon to ship GPUs should I keep my eye on out there Peter?

Is this because the 3072 cores are split in 2?

Here’s a thread I started on this subject months ago:

To get really real no-problems broadcast, you should put it through a legalizer. But I always put my quicktimes through normally scaled legal video.

Yeah, colortrace is a MUST feature, yet it seems a little clunky and unclear. One of the things I find frustrating is the remote vs the local grade modes.

Perhaps you can write down the shot number? Or, for those couple shots, you could grab still, unless you have keyframes and difficult tracks.

A shot that has been colored is reflected by a rainbow color underneath the thumbnail.

There’s a difference too between remote and local grading. Perhaps the 2 files are linked to the same file but the other is not.

Your question is a little vague though too; read through the user manual from the blackmagic support website. It’s very well written.

I switched it to square pixel ratio, and that worked. The other settings didn’t seem to have 16:9 NTSC… kind of a weird 16:9 ratio they had on there.

Probably should have read the manual…
