Not that this alone will help solve your whole problem, but don’t “auto configure” the deck. Select the DSR-11 template yourself. You should first always choose the provided template for a deck, if there is one.

Actually Antonio, the % “loss” of vertical rez shooting 24f is more accurately between 10-12% at most. But it’s so minuscule, don’t worry about it. There’s certainly plenty of rez from the A1 to begin with.

I’ve never had a need to use that function, but I’m reasonably sure that it only works on the current tape that’s being recorded. Meaning you can’t just insert any previously recorded tape & have end search work.

Michael (Phillips)… I hadn’t heard of Carbon Coder before and just saw a picture of the interface. It looks remarkably similar to Canopus Procoder. Near identical. Any thoughts on that?

need a lot more info than what you’ve given (it’s like leaving a mechanic voice mail, telling him your car doesn’t run well and asking if he can repair it).

from what I can tell, this green screen shot isn’t anywhere near properly lit (talent is about as flat as can be). No matter what camera a green screen scene is shot with, poor lighting will make it nasty & unusable.

Btw, I prefer QT over AVI any day. Must also be your render settings also in conjunction with what’s mentioned above.

Sorry to mention the obvious… but could this simply be a white balance issue? (daylight balanced, shooting inside=orange… indoor balanced, shooting outside=blue, etc.) Then again it could be something else altogether.

Maybe you had NR1 active which will have a horrible “smear” but only on movement, but the way you make it sound it may be something serious altogether.

Smear? What does that mean? Can you elaborate?

why not just buy a $30 firwire card for your laptop? There are firewire to USB adapters, but quite honestly USB 2.0 just doesn’t have the same sustained data rate as firewire and corrupt data may possibly occur.

Yes, Wilfred. I don’t use with Final Cut, I use Avid, but I know FCP has the same feature but slightly different terms and didn’t know exactly what it’s called.
