my shipping order describes my iMac wireless keyboard, without calc. pad as:

Will your skin labeled (and the one you sent me a direct link to):
“Keyboard Skin For Media Composer 5/6” on sale for $22.95
    work for me?
Thanks so much for your time.

    Thanks, Michael.

The iMac only offers a 7200rpm drive in 1TB OR 2TB.
It has 4 thunderbolt and 2 firewire ports if they are any help.
    Two questions:
    1. How severe a disadvantage is this.
    2. Can an external drive with sufficient rpm remedy or mitigate the disadvantage?

Thanks so much for your time.

being naturally obtuse, i require one last point of advice:
As to the configured hard drive choices seen below, (and realizing i am just this side of hurtin’-for-dough) which upgrade would i be foolish not to include?
    a. 1 TB Serial ATA Drive [stock]
    b. 2 TB ATA Drive [add $135]
    c. 256GB Solid State Drive [add $450]
    d. 1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256 Solid State Drive [$540]
    e. 2TB Serial ATA Drive + 256 Solid State Drive [$675]

i’d rather not skimp on something really necessary.

lastly, i start my class mid-aug and the “rumor” is that there the upgraded iMac might come out in aug. but, more likely, in early 2013.
can’t wait till 2013, but would you advise waiting thru aug. on the relatively slight chance of an aug. upgrade to include “retina display” and how important is that advance to the film editing process.

    thanks, again.

Sorry, but I realize I must take your time once again.

    1. you state that, “As far as internal hard drives, get one large enough to hold your sound effects and music libraries”. A “Musical” productions is amongst my dreams (which I have scripted, storyboarded with 13 musical number). Given this, is it better to get an external drive, or would one of the configurations offered be best? ie:
    a. 1 TB Serial ATA Drive
    b. 2 TB ATA Drive [$135]
    c. 256GB Solid State Drive [$450]
    d. 1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256 Solid State Drive [$540]
    e. 2TB Serial ATA Drive + 256 Solid State Drive [$675]

    2. is the iMac’s 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor fast enough to do the job, or am I already starting out on an inadequate foot? Know that I have other written and storyboarded script

    3. is the 16 Ram upgrade advisable? Or is it unnecessarily high given the potential limitation of my processor?

By now you must see me as the true novice that I am.
Still, any other suggestions that comes to mind would be deeply appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Thanks Richard.

It’s nice to know there are generous spirits out there.
Know that you can rightfully add “and of others” to that fine “facilitator” quote by Hicks

At 63, I need the BEST advice I can get and sincerely appreciate it when given.

Best of luck to someone who genuinely deserves it.

    Bill
