  • Thanks, Pierre,
So, I’ve reduced this down into the simplest steps I can think of. Still no luck. Running Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1 on Mac OS 10.5.8:

    1. Create a new project
    2. Create a new sequence – DV NTSC Standard
    3. Add clip to sequence – using SkateBoAM.mov from Twixtor tutorial
    4. Add the clip again to the sequence for padding
    5. Create a second sequence
    6. Add first sequence to second sequence
    7. Apply Twixtor 4.5 effect to first clip in first sequence
    8. Change Output Control Speed to 50%
    9. Playback second sequence – motion is indeed reduced by 50%, but at the point the padding was added, it begins playing from the beginning.

Could this have anything to do with it: the frame size of my sequence is 720 x 480. The frame size of the clip is 360 x 240. The moment I apply the Twixtor effect to the clip, it expands in the output display to 720 x 480. The padded clip remains at the original size.

    Thanks.

September 13, 2009 at 7:56 am in reply to: Adobe Premiere Capture and HDR-HC9

I encounter this exact problem with an HDR-HC7 which is almost identical to the HC9. Whether it is the computer or the camera, the system is VERY picky about the order in which the camera is powered on, the cable is connected to the camera, Premiere Pro is started, and Capture is selected. And it doesn’t seem to be consistent. This sequence usually works for me:

    1. Connect cable to camera.
    2. Power-on camera and place in PLAY/EDIT mode.
    3. Start Premiere Pro and open project
    4. Select “Capture”.

This usually works, but when it doesn’t, I try again mixing up the order. PITA. Hope this helps.

According to CS4 AE Manual, when importing a PPro project into AE:

“Transitions and titles (except for dissolves) included in your Adobe Premiere Pro project appear in the After Effects
composition as solid layers with their original location and duration.”

January 16, 2009 at 6:37 pm in reply to: AE Keyboard Shortcuts?

I actually did play around with customizing some of the keyboard shortcuts. First thing I found were some errors in the Adobe docs and some things not working as expected. I think I have found a better way using my mouse that has some extra buttons and a side wheel and that can be remapped by application. Seems to work just fine, but it remains to be seen whether it improves my productivity and reduces errors in the heat of battle.

    Thanks, again for your help.

I understand what AE is for and I am using it for animation, effects, and compositing. I understand what you are saying. But I also find myself frequently wanting to move forward/back and stop in the timeline. Don’t you ever want to move the timeline a single frame? In AE, I use the PgDn/PgUp. In PPro, I use KJ/KL. I was just hoping for a little consistency since I am constantly pressing the wrong keys.
