September 12, 2009 at 7:43 pmAfter your project is open, open the capture window. In the upper right area of the window you’ll see a”Logging” and a “Settings” tab, click settings and make sure that it reads “Capture Format HDV”, not SD. Many times when I would set up a new project and chose HDV initially, it would swich to SD when I opened the capture window.
It gave me the same message that you’re getting.
Hope that’s all it is.

September 13, 2009 at 2:43 amThe options i have on the dropdown menu in setup are None, and DV/HDV…
It has been set to DV/HDV this whole time so unfortunitely that is not it.

September 13, 2009 at 7:56 amI encounter this exact problem with an HDR-HC7 which is almost identical to the HC9. Whether it is the computer or the camera, the system is VERY picky about the order in which the camera is powered on, the cable is connected to the camera, Premiere Pro is started, and Capture is selected. And it doesn’t seem to be consistent. This sequence usually works for me:
1. Connect cable to camera.
2. Power-on camera and place in PLAY/EDIT mode.
3. Start Premiere Pro and open project
4. Select “Capture”.This usually works, but when it doesn’t, I try again mixing up the order. PITA. Hope this helps.

September 14, 2009 at 10:02 pmthat does not help at all, it is still not recognized… it works fine with the hdv/dv conversion on as soon as you try to capture hdv it does not work.
And yes, the format is in HDV1080i, it was captured in HDV1080i… it appears the internet has no answers for this whatsoever…

I just got my Sony HDR – HC7 HDV 1080i format camera. I am not able to capture the HDV format with Adobe Primiere pro 1/5 I get a messege to check and see if my software suports 1080i.
does it support or do I need something new? -

December 30, 2009 at 9:00 amHi Danny I am using the HDR-HC7 and when I looked at the setting it reads: DV/IEEE 1394 capture and does not have any other option in the drop down menue. Next to this it reads Capture Module instaled.
Do I require another Fire Wire input?
I checked in the initial setting of a project and it does not have any mention of HDV only DV.
Does this mean that my Premier 1.5 does not support HDV?
Any assitance would be greatly appriciated.

March 28, 2013 at 9:45 pmI know this has been awhile but in case someone else needs the info.
You just were not paying attention, it is up on the right in the settings tab just under that it has a button that says edit, That is where you change it to HDV.
If life were a movie, you’d find mine in with the dropped frames.
