To add to Proper’s comments, the delivery mechanism can be part of how you decide to mix the levels. Theatre sound systems give you a lot more dynamic range to play in so you keep the normal conversational levels averaging around say -20 and save some room for yelling, explosions, etc. For TV you will want to compress the levels a bit more.

“This feature was added -and works well – in version FCP 5.1.2.”

Good to know. I ended up doing all the research on figuring out how to bring 744t files into FCP last year. Nice to know FCP integrated this feature now.

Sebsky Tools is needed to bring BWF files into FCP with the Metadata intact. There use to be a site for Sebsky tools but I think it went down. You can find more info on it here:

They are able to ask with a straight face because people will respond. Taking these jobs is just reinforcing the pattern. Stop helping these guys out and let them learn the folly of bringing an amatuer to do a professional job. So you don’t work that particular project; consider it an investment into the future when they realize their mistake and actually raise a budget for their next production.

Human nature, laziness, and supply and demand means these guys will always exist. It is your job to advance beyond them.

Actually you can export an OMF file and keep all those things intact but Audition will not read OMF files (the last time I checked). Not sure if Adobe ever plans to integrate OMF or AAF, or if they want to discourage the use of other video editors with their audio software.

Anyone know if Soundbooth will import OMF or AAF?
