Hello, I was hoping to get in a question of my own if possible.

I shoot ski/snowboard action which is often very ‘pan’ and motion orientend. Are you saying that there is no problem with the EX-1 when shooting pans of fast moving objects? What about if the camera is in motion as well? In your opinion would Panasonic’s CCD’s and DVCHD be a better choice for my application? I am about to buy either the HVX200a, PX170 or the EX-1. I really like a lot about all of the cameras, but when it comes down to it, I need something that can shoot HD at high FPS with little to no pixel skew/smear/line “fcuk up”, etc…

    thanks and with much appreciation

    Don-

    thanks once again.

As a third and hopefully final follow up question I have to ask: Do you know of any sub-$10k cameras that have the ability to shoot faster shutter speeds? Weight is always an issue to consider too……..is there something out there that I’m not aware of? I am privy to the RED ONE, yet after placing my deposit and realizing that the RED ONE is not for me, I’ve decided that I am waiting for Scarlet like everyone else. But is there anything else out there that shoots is FAST for my type of application. I’m looking to buy something for this upcoming season to be the Main Camera shooting in FULL HD 1080p.

    thanks

everynight i fall asleep and dream. oceans. forests. mountains. streams. magnificent little dreams. merely minutes, maybe more. wake up. eyes open. no longer seeing in RED. it all seems con.

    Don-

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have a follow up question that I was hoping you would probably have some good insight on.

What are the problems…or extra steps invloved in using the EX-1’s format of Long GOP? I have been editing in FCP 5.14 using standard DV/NTSC footage, and I don’t understand fully the codec issues that I continue to read about on your forums. Is there anyway/one who can help me understand this better?

Oh and I looked into renting one of the cameras, but unfortunately it’s not much of an option, where I live in Bellingham, WA.

Did you ever receive a response regarding this post? I ask because I am about to buy an EX-1 but I am not sure I fully understand the codec issues involved in Long GOP format.

    Please Help.

    thanks
