I was just discussing this with my colleague and trying to formulate a plan. I work from our international office in Amsterdam, Netherlands and we run off the server. We have a separate (different footage) database in our Washington, DC office and currently only the archivist is using CatDV (not server based).

If I want to send a video clip, not the whole catalog, with the corresponding information (mainly Log Notes panel and Event Markers) what is the best way to do this? She has access to our video files via VPN and MOST fields in Log Notes are similar. I tried exporting/importing a CatDV XML file but the fields were not mapped correctly.

    Any input appreciated!

We’re both on Mac OSX, CatDV 8.1.11

    Hi there,

We are experiencing the same problem Erica had in her original post on April 5, 2010. Was there ever a solution? We import into CatDV and the aspect ratio is 4:3 when it should be 16:9. If we check the Anamorphic box in FCP than it imports into CatDV correctly but then going back to FCP the aspect ratio is off.

    Any ideas?

    We’re running version 8.1.11 on a Mac OS X 10.6.6

    Cheers,
    Whitney

    Hi Rolf,

Any further consideration on making an option to lock the Clip ID field? Would really appreciate it! 🙂

    Best,

Sorry Rolf, this may be a silly question but Tulio and I can’t find how to create a “customised main window view” to call HTML Summary. I definitely see it in the Customise Details Panel, but there it is only a box to check whether or not you want to show it – not to edit.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Rolf,

I did a test and just deleted the Clip ID, then re-saved and it gave it a different Clip ID number. An option to lock would be great!

As far as the question marks – I have copied from a website (the web version of our DB/Text library) and from TextEdit. Let me know if you’re able to test that and if not, I will email you an example.

    Thanks for your help,
    Whitney

    Hi Kevin,

I do have the Clip ID showing on the Summary panel. However, when I right click a clip and select Clip Summary, I do not see the Clip ID on this, and this is what we save as a pdf and send to clients. Is there a way to get it on this Clip Summary?

Doing well on this end! Hope to see you at the IBC.

Finally was able to log in Super Admin – retrieved all clips from recycle bin. Whew!!! Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. And yes, we are running off server. The version we are using is 8.1.4

When I browse the database, the recycle bin does not allow me to open it, as it is not higlighted. Here is a screenshot:

Any ideas why I can’t open it? I have Group Admin allowances.

    Cheers.

  • Never mind… found the answer in a previous post. Cheers!

  • Hi Rolf,

A lot of what we are inputting is old archived footage that already have accompanying shot lists from our DB/Text library. Is there a way to copy and paste the shot list into the Verbatim Logger and it can ‘automatically’ create markers from the timecodes that are in the shot list?
