Well 5 of us here have tried not successfully to get it to work the way you suggest. When I have some time I’ll play again.

Thanks Tim. Have gone through all the different settings and haven’t found anything that works the way I feel it might. I generally use mono on tracks 1-3 because I want all my camera audio to come in mono.
PRr CS6 is working for me just way to many clicks and additional things to do. Every non-linear editor has its quarks. My favorite has been FCP7. They lost me with X.

Agree. I travel all over for the Government and had planned to get a blown out MacBookPro. But because of the way Apple has made decisions held off as I said. Last two years I’ve been within driving distance of my assignments and have brought my MacPro – with 3 30 inch monitors (2 of Apples and 1 Sony for playback)
The large monitors are so nice on the eyes for long days of editing.
I wish you well and as you will await Apple’s decisions.

Updated 3 days ago no issues here. NVIDIA card. I have on occasion dropout of audio for a few seconds but then comes back. This is a long time issue with CS6.
The one thing I’m regular about is upgrading Java. Apple has been decent about Java because I believe they got hit by a Java virus – problems.

Understand where you are coming from. I’ve decided to hold off to see what comes next and have upgraded/blown out my 2009 Mac Pro: 16TB internal drives providing 350mbs, external raid5 with 8 4TB drives giving me 750-850mbs, HighPoint USB3 card providing 85mbs for backup drives, Blackmagic HD output, 64gig of ram and a new Nvidia video card and 3 Drobo raids. (All drives 7200rpm)
I need to keep all kinds of projects online and available. I have 3 copies of everything. A few years back I lost a major drive. It took lots of effort and time to get the files back. Will never happen again.
I’m in agreement about the MacBook Pros. Not being able to upgrade chips is a major flaw. It won’t be long before 32 and even 64gig chips will be available. Right now you have 16gig chips. 2 slots would provide 32 gigs. As many of us feel, Apple is saying good by to the Pro market.
Not having an internal Super Drive or Blu-Ray is annoying. I use Blu-Ray for archives. The idea behind a laptop is a one piece unit for the road. All the extra pieces we’ll now have to carry will take up more room.
After having only Macs since the day Steve Jobs came to the Boston Computer Society, I’ve started looking at PC…OH how I dread the thought.

Thanks Bob. I can and do work around it – just frustrating and worse time consuming. Avid and Final Cut had things so much better. However both blew it – Avid were snobs and over charged, Apple came out with FCPX and no longer cares about the pros.
PPr has plenty of pluses but it just seems clunky and takes way to many clicks to do simple things.

I have sent the information to Adobe. I have used Photoshop since non numbered versions – back in the 80s. Sometimes I just wish the programmers would come out into the field and sit with editors. Premiere CS6 is great and frustrating at the same time. Audio is my biggest frustration. Great video is wonderful, OK video is passable. Bad audio ruins a piece.
Whenever I’m home I go to the Boston Creative Pro meetings – Dan Berube does a great job – to hear from other pros. Adobe has put on some great programs over the years.

To me watching the boards, audio is one of the more complained about items.
Yes I set the tracks up MONO primarily because all camera footage is split track and when put in the timeline for example, if it is a mono interview with track 1 being auto and track 2 being manually recorded, I use only track 2. Track 1 is my safety only if needed. Happens rarely but does happen that it is needed. Old tape news style. I suppose I could set up stereo and then go to the trouble or resetting every clip from the camera. Again just extra steps.
That is the frustration. Premiere requires extra steps to do many – many things. You wonder if they have real editors sit down and say how can we do this quicker.
I agree that you should be able to easily set it up. AVID and FCP7 have done it for years.
CS6 is far above 5 and 5.5 and has some great things. It is just all those extra steps that is most frustrating.
