You can easily do this if you have Vegasaur, although it is a 2 step process. Step 1. On Create tab, Convert from Marker to Region with a length of 30 sec. Step 2. On the Tools tab, Tick Adjust Position, Move to Left, 15 sec. The result will be a region that begins 15 sec before and ends 15 sec after each Marker.

Thanks so much for the info. The referenced articles are quite informing, especially the comparison to the Sony A7–pretty impressive. I actually took some photos and videos with my ancient iPhone 4 yesterday for the first time (a hand-me-down from my daughter who got a 6s for Christmas). Not the best, but it sure is convenient and a big step up from my old flip phone. For me, the 6s seemed pretty large and cumbersome, although I understand Apple is to release a smaller version later this month with pretty much the same internals. It seems that iPhone is the way to go. Again thanks for the detailed reply.

Suggest you give a Vegasaur a try. It has a Preset Manager which will do exactly what you want (plus a lot of other very useful things). I believe they still a 30 day trial.

Your MKV files need to be re-muxed into something that Vegas will import. You could use Handbrake, but that will result in a re-render and some quality loss. Plus it will take a relatively long time. Try TSmuxer (freeware) which will produce a .ts or .m2ts which Vegas should read without issue. You could also re-mux to MP4. All this assumes that the actual codec inside the container is h264 (AVC). Re-muxing will also be very quick since it mostly involves “copying”.

You could simply create a track above your main text track with just “100”. Then do your keyframing on just the upper text track with the “100” and the lower track will remain the same. Obviously, you’ll have to insert spaces at the location of the “100” on your main track.

Sorry, just looked at your video. I don’t think what I suggested will work.

February 26, 2016 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Mercalli 4

if you remove Vegas 13 completely from your system and now use
Mercalli 4 in Vegas 12, you may get the same odd result Roger is getting here!

Steve, you might be right, but a test like that would not really help the OP. Alternatively, the OP could download a trial of V13 and see if the problem goes away.

As an aside, I’ve pretty much given up on using the Version 4 plug-in. For whatever reason, it stabilizes well but always reverts to the default-avoid border-max zoom result. I can manually change the scale, but it becomes a real pain to do that for each event. Apparently, others are also having problems. Here is the thread. https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/showmessage.asp?messageid=940359 I asked if anyone could confirm that particular problem, but at present no one has. Perhaps its something specific to my system. In any case, I’m back to using the V2 plug-in and also Deshaker. Sadly, I’ve spent a lot of $ on Mercalli over the years and always return to Deshaker for the bulk of my stabilization needs.

It’s almost a year later and I am still having this problem. Use of Vegasaur does not work for some reason. I just sent an email to support describing the problem. I assume that toolbar information is stored in the file “tbmappings.dat”. However, if I make changes to the Toolbar icons in Vegas, that particular file is not being updated, or should it be? It still shows just a reference to the original icons, but not the new ones. Any ideas?

    No solution. Clicked by mistake.

Hope it won’t compromise the quality of originals

It will. There will be some quality loss. Whether it’s important to your or not is your call. The best approach is to use software that will smart-render these files such as VideoReDo or TMPGEnc’s MPEG Smart Renderer 4. It basically copies the bulk of each file and only “re-renders” where the files actually join.

What is the best option to provide as an input to Vegas … RGB32 or YUY2

I always use the default, RGB32 since Vegas works in RGB.
