I’ve added that last bit to my notes also.
I have been on the Sony Forums for a long time. I started with Vegas Video V 1 and have been reliant on Sound Forge since 1996. I bemoan how Sonic Foundry and the team in Madison seems to have deteriorated since the behemoth Sony got in the picture. The great inventive folks in Madison don’t seem to have much to add to their “bag of tricks” anymore.
Even with cheap upgrades and being in the Beta program I can find no valid reason to update past Vegas Pro 10. 11 was a disaster and 12 seems little more than 11 re-branded. BUMMER. Other than adding begrudging support for BluRay in VP and DVDA, it seems SONY has done little of merit. Of course, Adobe with the forced march to the cloud where they can hold the entire universe hostage is all a bit scary. (No I’m not afraid of the cloud. . .unless it is one in the hands of the “evil and conspiratorial universe” that Adobe has become 🙂
What are your thoughts on VP 12? Maybe I’m missing something, although it seems not from my monitoring of the restricted access Beta forum.
I have thought about giving up the ship an migrating fully to Adobe Premier, but I found the interface more difficult (inscrutable) and far less intuitive than Vegas. Also, one of my primary uses for Vegas is audio-only projects mixing and mastering 16-24 track live high-def audio recordings. I have always respected Vegas strengths in the area of multi-track audio.

How the heck did you know what to do? You must know the specs and “insides” of how things have changed during the transition from analog to digital with such a range of dynamics possible. If there is a reference I should look to regarding how all this works, I would appreciate a pointer.
