The only filter applied (apart from the field shift) is the broadcast safe- (very conservative) and the occasional gamma correction. The dv has been re-sized for 16×9. No dissolves. The error appears to be on most (not all) of the dv footage and some dozen shots of the hdv material, and mostly in the second part of the programme (but part of the same sequence). The hdv material appears to be correct in the browser.
It was (hopefully) corrected by a hardworking online editor who stopped at each error and changed the dominance before continuing with the playout, I was not present. my dvd of the original sequence certainly doesn’t look good.

I concede a card and monitor and new computer to put the card in would allow me to see my problem before the playout stage. This job being a very low budget independent documentary I have taken short cuts. I have checked the field of every shot individually to try and compensate.
The problem remains however that it was shot HDV, digitised HDV and edited HDV (the field shift filters were applied to the DV file material automatically as FCP6 does) and exported as a HDV quicktime movie for playout. Yet some of the material (not just DV and AVI) seem to have dominance issues. Is there possibly another reason for this? Perhaps a dodgy render file?
I would hate for this to remain a mystery.

a bit of extra info,
switching the sequence settings to Pro Res (HQ)and exporting using current settings does seem to resolve the issues without the need to switch dominance on the original files to none.
It doesn’t give me an interlaced output but it looks good.Wayne
