Most likely you avoid some of the banding and mathematical errors of 8 bit by working in 10 bit. Will it make the 8 bit footage look better, no, but everything that is created afterward, graphics, transitions, filters applied will look better.

You don’t get extra bits in the original 8 bit footage what you get is 10 bits in any transitions you add, graphics and color correction.

I like to convert to ProRes422 on a Mac with 5DtoRGB Batch. Then even though I started with 8bit footage, I am in the 10bit colorspace for color correction, transitions, effects, titles, etc.
With Premiere you can work with the h.264 natively but ultimately it has to be rendered. So that said, you can render at the beginning of the edit or render at the end of the edit, but you will have to render.

Are you lighting? or just going with available lights. Not enough light will cause noise in the blacks Heat can also be an issue and of course it cold be a bad chip/sensor. Can you rent a 5D Mark II and do a side by side comparison? If the rental doesn’t exhibit the problem, and yours does, it might be time for service.

Ryan’s right, unfortunately this is built in limitation due to European markets. If it records over 30 minutes it’s a camcorder not a DSLR.

How are you post processing the h.264? Are you? What are you editing in. My work flow is to use 5DtoRBG Batch. There is a free version from the Mac app store called 5DtoRGB as well. This is on a Mac. I process to ProRes422 and have not experienced any noise with the Cinestyle setting.
I only shoot at ISO 160, 3204, 640, or 1280.
Unfortunately, I don’t know your work flow.

I’m not working in PAL 25 fps, but I’m running Mac OS 10.8.5 with a Kona 3– all the latest drivers with FCP 7.0.3 on a RAID system 10GBE built by Mr. Zelin, and I have no issues.
I had a drop frame issue that was caused by an ATTO driver for the 10GBE card but ATTO quickly rectified it. I also had a little issue with AJA’s driver but their latest one fixed all other issues.
I’ve cut a few projects under Mountain Lion with no issue.

Bob Zelin is amazing. I recommend Bob for all RAID installs. He’s been doing mine for quite sometime. He did my new 10GBE install and it works flawlessly.
He’s a nice guy too!

What firmware are you running on the camera? Is there a firmware update to the Ninja 2?
I don’t use the Ninja so I can’t confirm your problem, but my camera works fine HDMI clean out to an external monitor. Can you go to a camera store and try a display Canon with your Ninja to see if you can replicate?

It should be fine. I run FCP 7.0.3 on OSX 10.8.5 with no issues in a shared storage environment.
