At least one of the manufacturers has units in development, but there are no Blu-Ray synchronizers available that I am aware of.

I think your best shots here are synchronized hi-def compact flash players, a computer-based solution like Watchout, Wings, or Pro Video Player, or sync-rolled DDRs like the Turbo.

I would think so, but maybe someone from the Final Cut forum or the Blackmagic Design forum would have some direct experience with it.

Hi Juan,

For laptops, you’ll need a network and multi-display software to synchronize the machines. For PCs, check out Watchout from Dataton or Wings from AVStumpfl. For Macs, you could look into Pro Video Player from Renewed Vision.

For DVD players, you’d need a synchronizer by Dave Jones Design or Technovision — there’s more detail on this in a thread listed just a couple down from this one:

Dave Jones Design and Technovision both make DVD synchronizers that will work with the DVD-V5000; they are accurate to within 2 frames, which could be ok if there’s no fast motion, the monitors are spread out, and you always dissolve instead of cut. If you need perfect frame accuracy, you need the 8000 with genlock.

Thomas’s advice about the compact-flash based players is great. I think Technovision makes them too, although I don’t have any personal experience with them.

There’s another virtual VTR program for the Mac called PlaybackPRO. There’s a demo available that you can test with to see if it resolves your quality issues.

The author works in live events, so he understands very clearly what’s required in show. The program supports playlists.

PVP does allow playback from a single Mac with dual-display support — dual computers & licenses are not necessary.

The interface is really simple, too — you can build or playlist, or you can simply the click the clip you want when you want to play it.

The Turbo does list at $10k, but if this is an event (rather than something ongoing), you can rent one well within your budget from a staging company for the occasion.
