Yeah okay I got the technique it worked as it was supposed to but the problem is that when I select colors from the iris it selects a lot of other stuff too. Even playing with the matching tolerance doesnt help.

Additionally, the eyes are brown so whenever I do that color change thingy it selects some of the eyebrows and sometimes parts of the pupil.

Sigh. Again, you aren’t explaning it clear enough for me.. here’s what I THINK I’m supposed to do:

    Part One:

    1. Open a new comp with eye1.avi in there.
    2. Duplicate eye1.avi layer twice.
    3. Select the top one, precomp it (and leave attributes in the comp)
    4. With the precomp selected, apply the change color effect, eyedrop a color in the iris, and set matching tolerance to 2%. Set transfer mode to “ADD”.
    5. Move a copy of Eye1.avi to the top.
    6. Repeat step 4 on this layer instead of the precomp.
    7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until iris is white.

    Part Two:

    1. Select the precomp layer.
    2. Make the track matte to LUMA MATTE.
    3. Adjust color using Hue and Saturation.

    Am I right?

The way you explained it was really confusing it led me to believe that I have to duplicate the precomped layer, then move the original precomp to the top. Whoops.

Uhhh yeah I can’t get how to change the color of the luma mattes, I tried to paint on em but that didnt work cuz the color didnt move with the eyes.

Here’s a pic of my timeline, mabye you can see what I’m doing wrong:

Thats actually what I always do first.

I first searched for luma matte, and then luma, but nothing came up that seemed like a ‘luma matte’.

I found the Keying effect called Luma Keying but thats the closest I could find.

Okay I can’t find the luma matte thing.. where is it and how do I use it?

Okay well theres not enough contrast between the pupil and the iris and the rest of my skin for it to work right, even with tolerance values of like .1%.

Anyway, I’m going to try to take a shot with better lighting then try it again. Thanks for the technique, and btw, WHAT ARE GARBAGE MASKS?
