i guess no one else has any ideas?
I found a way to get a working render. If I render out to 29.97 , lower field, and ‘recompress always’ then the results plays back great. But that’s BS that i have re-render all video even if its unaltered.
Any ideas why it’s like that?

I tried every different setting it seems.. but to recap.

My timeline is a 24p timeline (the pannasonic 24p preset in PPro 1.5)
I captured all the footage straight from the Xl-2.
All the files register as 23.976 and they all play back beautifuly from the timeline or in explorer.

When I render, I tried rendering both to DV24p and to NTSC … both yield crappy results.
I’ve also tried progressive and lower field for both. I’m not sure if the ‘optimize stills’ checkbox makes a difference?

This clip was rendered to a 29.97 NTSC file, lower field first. Sadly it looks better then the 24 one.

Should I be rendering out to a 24p one?

Yes I chose a 24p timeline when I started the project by choosing the preset “pannasonic 24p widescreen”
