Yes, I found that. Thanks. I must say … I’ve been an XP Pro SP2 user for years and for some things, I’m underwhelmed with Vista. On the other hand, I notice a 15+% increase in Rendering times (faster) with 8.1 compared to 8.0c. Does that sound consistent (expected)?

Just FYI … I think I’ve figured this out with IrfanView. IV stores its settings (including those from Batch Conversion, Advanced) in:
C:\[someWindowsFolder]\i_view32.iniI copied/renamed several versions of this file; one for Olympus, Canon, Nikon. To use it:
copy [theAppropriateVersion] C:\[someWindowsFolder]\i_view32.ini
i_view32.exe [sourceFile] /advancedbatch /convert=[destFile]
..repeat as needed..and this will crop/resize sourceFile into destFile using the settings from [theAppropriateVersion].

Thanks for the tips. I tried IrfanView and it seems to work well. I can resize (Nikon) or crop and resize (Oly or Canon) my images. I ran some render tests and it is noticeably faster (thanks John!), especially the one where I’ve got 4 images in 3D.
IrfanView can load/save the Conversion options as well as Load from an input text file. Is there a way to specify with each input file the Conversion option file I’d like to use? This would allow me to do one pass instead of multiple (one for Oly, Canon, then Nikon).
… or am I being too greedy? 😉
Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice. It seems like these apps export a movie which I can then incorporate into Vegas. Is the movie “transparent” (like Vegas’ Transparent Text)? I.e., I can put images in subsequent tracks and see the them beneath the animated text? Thanks again.

Hey thanks. Let me preface with this:
I’ve created several nestable projects (working with stills). Each may have 2 to 5 tracks, some with 3D Alpha Track Motion. I then have a master project with 6 of the nestable projects. I was A|B-ing the tracks with Mute/Unmute (that’s what drove my “Archive” question from yesterday). I notice that the Preview window looks … well, like some inebriated person who’s first learning how to drive a stick shift.
I tried playing around with the Preview Max value. The window itself is set to Preview(Auto) because I thought I read in the manual that’s a good value to use.
I’ve been playing with these values, 128 to 768MB, Preview(…) and can’t seem to get the Preview window to be more … “smooth” (for lack of a better term).
Thanks again.

I think a Muted track is still processed (to some degree), it just isn’t viewable. E.g., take a rendered video and place it in Track 1. Use Preview. Press Mute and Unmute on Track 1. The video will appear and disappear. Thus, Vegas is keeping track of that file and where it needs to be (in the fiel) so that it can process it during Preview.
Now, in SONAR, the same thing applies. You can Mute and Unmute a track. SONAR still keeps track of what audio gets routed where or what MIDI events get sent to what bus/channel, and you can Mute and Unmute during playback. However, you cannot do this to an Archived track. It is essentially dead. It exists in the SONAR file, but it 100% ignored during playback/processing.

OK, I got it. If I click in the Track area (not in any of the properties [e.g., not X, Y, Width, Height, etc.]), then if I press Tab or Shift-Tab then it appears as if I’m cycling through the Tracks with the Track Motion window open.
Anybody confirm this?
